PRESIDENT BARROW HANDS OVER FARM EQUIPMENT TO AGRICULTURE MINISTER FOR ONWARD DISTRIBUTION TO FARMERS NATIONWIDE
His Excellency, President Adama Barrow on March 31, 2026 officially handed over vital agricultural machinery to the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Food security Dr Demba Sabally for onward distribution to farmers across the country.
The groundbreaking event held at Brikamaba in Lower Fulladou West, CRR South was part of the President’s six-day nationwide tour to lay the foundation stones for 204.7km (26 feeder roads) supported by the World Bank through the GIRAV project.
This tranformative initiative, funded by the World Bank, is aimed at boosting productivity, improving food security, and empowering farmers with modern tools. The equipment handed over included: • 56 Power tillers
• 20 Mini rice combine harvesters
• 60 Coarse-grain/maize milling machines
• 10 Manual drum seeders
• 25 Garden tillers
• 7 Steaming kits (rice parboilers)
• 5 Bush cutters
• 100 Rice threshers
• 10 Four-row tractor-drawn seed drills
• 12 Maize shellers
• 60 Rice milling machines
• 19 Tricycles
• 5 Rotary weeders
This milestone marks another step forward in modernizing agriculture and supporting hardworking farmers across the nation. CORAF, Africa's largest sub-regional research organization, supported the sourcing of the equipment.
